Simple Guide for Add Maths Project TUGASAN 4/2010

Alrighty. Add Maths project... hmm. I typed this thing out at 2am - 5am in the morning. So if you find spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes, you know why.

You can find more information here and if you find mine is just too vague. Just register and activate you account and you'll be able to view it.[HERE]
Question paper. Lost it? Go here. [HERE]
Air-cond sizing worksheet. [HERE]

*PRECAUTIONS (LOL)
1. Graphs. It's best if you draw the graphs manually. In other words, by hand. And by hand, I mean drawing.... with pencil. Yeah.
2. Tables. You can draw the outline of the table using computers. But fill in the data that you've obtained by hand.
3. Calculations. 100% by hand. No computer aided work here. Show every single working. Even if the calculated data is supposed to be filled into the table, you still have to show the working.
4. Generals. Most of the pages can be done with the aid of computer except the ones I mentioned above. But it's not a problem if you want to do it completely by hand.

The ones I put in bracket indicate the corresponding criteria in the rubric that I'm having. Maybe I can upload it later if anyone wants it. It's basically a table of criteria for the folio. What you need in the folio:
1. Title Page (A1) - Include your name, class, school's name, teacher's name, project title i.e. Index Prices in Our Daily Life.
2. Contents Page (A1) - Quite obvious what you should do here.
3. Objectives (A2) - List out the objectives of doing this project. 3 would be enough, I guess. i.e. To develop positive attitude towards mathematics.
4. Introduction (A2) - Basically this is just a copy and paste work from Wikipedia. Find the history, uses, and etc etc.

Now, I'm referring to the question paper. If you lost it, go here. [HERE]
5. Part 1
a) Collect pictures, newspaper cuttings or photos on items that you have chosen. A plain collage is adequate. Cut and paste. Simple.
b) Copy back Table 1 and gather your data [FIELD WORK]. Make sure you use the same measurements for each of the identical items.

Table 1b

c) Create at least two suitable graphical presentations. I'm not quite sure what this means. Maybe you can do those graphs like in the stock market for each of the items. I'm just speculating for this one. The information that they give is just too vague.
d) Basically, just write whatever you think the graph is showing you. i.e. Most expensive and etc. Then, comment on what you've found.
e) Identify ONE item which is too cheap or too expensive (10 or 20 sens in difference is kinda extreme, in a way) Calculate the mean and standard deviation of that particular item. And, think why its price is like that.

6. Part 2
a) From Part 1, just state which shop you'd go to purchase those items. State your reasons and explain why.
b) Copy and fill up Table 2 with the prices of items from the shops that you choose.

Table 2b(i)

    (i) Calculate the price index for each of the ingredient for 2010 based on 2009.
(ii) Then, calculate the composite index for 2010 based on 2009. Explain how you get your answers.
(iii) State a suitable selling price for the butter cake in 2010. Explain why.

c)  (i) Air-cond capacity based on room size. I THINK you have to list out the standard capacity of the     air-cond and its corresponding room volume. Not sure if this helps, but you can try this. [HERE]
(ii) Get the volume of the library. Explain how you get the answer. Determine how many air-cond and the air-cond capacity do you need to keep the library in a cool condition. You can use your own estimation or you can use Fudin's. His is 600 cubic metres.
(iii) Then, get an estimation of the total price for the air-cond(s) and determine how many butter cakes you need to sell to buy the air-cond(s).

7. PART 3
a) Complete Table 3 based on the information given on the previous passage. The one right on top of the 3(a). It's suppose to be something like this.

Table 3a

b) Calculate the composite index for the estimated budget for 2010 based on 2009. Best be done in a table form. Like this:

Table 3b

Then, comment on your answers. Just mention the increment is sufficient, I think.

c) Using the information that they gave, calculate the composite index for 2011 based on 2009. This one is pure calculation. You don't need to draw any tables.

8. FURTHER EXPLORATION
For this part, you'll have to elaborate on the different types of index numbers and their importance in our daily lives.

9. CONCLUSION
Best if you make a conclusion for each part of the assignment. This is basically your findings about the project. I don't think specific findings is required, just general ones will do.
I.e.
Part 1 - BLABLABLABLA BLA BLA BLA BLABLA
Part 2 - Etc etc etc
Part 3 - Fffisgjskkfopfjrij

Something like that. -.-

10. REFLECTION
I think the guide they have on the paper is quite sufficient to guide you. So, just follow from there.

11. REFERENCE
Just list out your source of information to finish up this project. And, this blog doesn't count. So, don't include that in.
For websites: www.example.com/example.html
For books: [BOOK TITLE], [PUBLISHER], [WRITER(S)], [DATE PUBLISHED], [PAGES]

12. APPENDIX (Lampiran... =.=)
Just put the question paper there. That's the only appendix you'll need.

I acquired the images from MyHomeTuition.com. I haven't actually read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of the website. So if anyone from the website found this blog, please mail me at flyinseal_93@hotmail.com if you need an explanation or letter of request for the usage of your site's digital properties. Thank you.

p/s: If you're still not sure, give me a mail. I'll try finding more informations.

LO AND BEHOLD... The Redundant Reading Corner

Alright, by this time, most of you SHOULDDD have done your homeworks already. Therefore, you SHOULDDD have time to search for interesting articles, righttt? =.=... Bad, bad introduction... *IGNORE THIS*

Well anyway, the school's going to reopen soon. So, if you have really studied, I congratulate you. If you have not, well, study la. LOL That aside, Jia Yin have requested everyone to bring a book for the reading corner since the reading corner is basically ignored. She have requested on facebook though, but it's barely noticeable. So, I put it here instead. Hopefully this would increase the pool of readers. And don't forget the articles for the notice board. The notice board really does look pathetic. Just bring some articles about any subject you find interesting. Nothing obscene, please. It'll just be filtered anyway.

Hmm... I don't think I left anything else out. Oh wait, the Sivik project. Nothing to elaborate on that. Just get the thing done. You don't need to think about it after that. The link to the guide is up there. And... I think that's about it.

In the mean time, just spend some of your time to study bits and pieces of any subject you feel like studying. At least, your can refresh a bit of your memory. And of course, enjoy your last days of holiday while you can.... HAHAHA

~One week is too short of a holiday. It feels like only a day passed =.=~

March 12 Homework

There are a few reasons why I feel lazy to blog this year. One would be because there really isn't anything to blog about these days. So as a replacement for that, I'll be putting up homeworks here instead.

So, today's homework:

Add Maths - Skill Prac 8, pg 60
                         --> a, c, e, h, and i
                    - Skill Prac 9, pg 61
                         --> ALL
  **NOTE**
--> There was a bit of crucial formula not included in the textbook. I have no idea why the publishers didn't include that in. Anyway, here's the formula:

You should only have one exercise book with you right now. The other one should have been sent 3 days ago.

Bahasa - Do all the Pemahaman questions on page 45 in your Rumusan book.
               - Do the exercises on page 153.
                   --> b, c and d
--> As for a, replace it with Praktis 2 on page 111

Biology - Draw the six vertebrae structures.
                  --> Atlas (Fig 2.5a)
                  --> Axis (Fig 2.5b)
                  --> Typical vertebra (Fig 2.4)
                  --> Thoracic vertebra (Fig 2.6)
                  --> Lumbar vertebra (Fig 2.7)
                  --> Sacrum + Coccyx (Fig 2.8)

That's all, I think. I hope I didn't miss anything.

So, next week is holiday. I should be saying "Have fun!!!" but I don't think most of you would find studying a really fun thing. You saw how the SPM results were, right? Most of the time, the results would alternate. First year, good results. Second year, bad results. Third year, good results again. There's a pattern there. Too bad it's not just a theory. So, if you want your results to be filled with As, then you'll just have to study.

So, till next week, Happy Studying. Dx()

Timetable v2.0 & Photo Shooting Session

As you have been informed, the new timetable will be up and running on the first of March. Simply put, it's tomorrow. The timetable is a bit problematic in a way. PJK was split to two parts. Both are adjacent to BM. One on Tuesday and another on Thursday. Thus, our actual PJ period will be cut short because of the time used for changing clothes. Anyway, here's the new timetable.
Preview: Timetable v2.0

Assessment 1/2010 Timetable

The exams are coming soon. Nothing major but you still need to put some effort into it. Bla, bla, bla... (Fill in the blanks with whatever you think I might say)... I'm part studying right now. The 'fill in the blanks' phenomena will occur from time to time. Most of the time, it will happen when I'm part studying.

So, in accordance with post's title, here is the Assessment 1 timetable.

Feb 22 +> 10.55 - 11.55  |+> Bahasa Malaysia
              +> 12.05 - 13.05  |+> Mathematics

Feb 23 +> 10.55 - 11.55  |+> English
              +> 12.05 - 13.05  |+> Chemistry

Feb 24 +> 09.30 - 10.30  |+> Biology
              +> 10.55 - 11.55  |+> History
              +> 12.05 - 13.05  |+> Islamic Ed / Moral Ed

Feb 25 +> 10.55 - 11.55  |+> Physics
              +> 12.05 - 13.05  |+> Add. Mathematics

--Notes--
1. Pupils are required to answer the assessment questions in the exercise books set by the subject teacher or on papers. Note that the school will not provide the papers.

2. For subjects not mentioned in the above timetable, the assessment will be carried out according to the class' original timetable by the subject teacher.

3. Teachers will continue P&P sessions on the periods not affected by the assessment. Basically, students are required to bring their books for the periods unbounded by the assessment timetable.

That's the end of this post. Enjoy your holidays while you still can.

Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year, all. You'll need all the luck and money you can get in this festive season because the exams is just around the corner. Specifically, it's just next week. You're going to need the luck to concentrate on your studies. If your luck isn't so good, you might end up getting distracted by a certain something (e.g. DoTA, butterflies, stomach ache, ang pows and perhaps chocolates XD) and thus, your mood to study would be discarded. (This condition is quickly nullified whenever it infects either Parri or Lim) Money for the purchasing power you need when you found out that your reference books are your sister's outdated ones or perhaps you just need some exercise books to revise. (Now that I think about it, you can just ask your parents to buy those books, right? XP)

So, yup. Sorry for the freakishly long time intervals between the updates. Read the chatbox if you want to know why. It's a pathetic reason. Anyway, I'm going to update more frequently after the holidays. There's a very slim chance of me posting anything else in the holidays since there isn't anything worth posting about. If you would like some sort of guide to finish up your PEKA or Sivik project or just something you're not sure about school assignments, then don't hesitate to send me an e-mail.

May the tiger be with you,
Habib...

Okay, guys. The Sivik project. Every year, we did the same exact thing over and over again.
Yet, most of us are still clueless on how to make the project report. To counter that, I lend
a copy of last year's report to help you guys and myself out. So here's how you do it.

Before that, you have to choose an activity. The Sivik textbook, page 198 lists out some activities
that you CAN choose. You don't necessarily need to follow the textbook. If you have your own ideas,
feel free to use them. Consult the teacher before you start the activity though.

So, yeah. Second post of 2010. A bit too much, don't you think? XD

Thursday, 21 January 2010

5m-2010.blogspot.com officially launched

So, yeah. If there's anything you guys would like me to put up here, please voice out. Don't ask me to post solution to homeworks or write about events. I won't do any of that. What I will do is post notes, lists of homeworks, project guides and even PEKA if you request. But that all really depends on my time restrictions.

And for some who might not have seen the new layout, well, here it is. Yeah, it took me a while to get this done. There's still some problems though but maybe you might not notice it anyway. So, I'd really like a feedback from you guys about the layout and the contents of the blog. I'll try to make this blog as feasible as possible. Again, all this depends on the time the authors' and myself have at hand.

That's it for now. The Chem checklist can be downloaded from up there on the supposedly recent posts section. If you see a link there, that means it's up. If it's not, then you just have to wait.

THE JUDGEMENT DAY....... Falls on 6th October

The Judgement Day is coming, yay!!! After all our hard work, we are finally being tested on what we have learnt. Too bad we still have things to study after the exam. So yeah, best prepare yourself for the exam. And don't copy your friend's answer la... This is end-year exam, you need to test yourself a bit. For tips on facing the exam, you can inquire Parri or Lim. HAHA

p/s: I think there's a lot of grammar mistakes in the above paragraph... A bit sleepy right now, so yeah. Btw, have anyone seen my calculator? Last time I saw it was on Friday at some time during Maths. If you have found it, please return it to me. I desperately need it. Thank you.

Merdeka Public Speaking Competition

Merdeka season.... A time where you see flags are finally being displayed by patriotic commercial and private drivers alike. This is the time when you don't see Tunku Abdul Rahman as a geek. This is the time when you look up to him. Some may even realize that we are actually quite a fortunate country. Do we get hit by tsunami at least once every four years? Do we fortify our houses with nails and wooden boards whenever we hear warnings of strong wind? Do we fear our life would fly out of the window in the next minute? NO, we don't. So, you've got to appreciate it lah.

In collaboration with the Bulan Kemerdekaan, an English Public Speaking Competition will be held. The details are below.

--------------------------------------------------------
Location:
Pusat Sumber SMK Sri Permata

Time:
On the first Wednesday after school reopens.

Registration Deadline:
Latest is on the first Tuesday after school reopens.

Judges:
Pn. Kong
Mr Hugh Leong aka HUGE (Pn Kong calls him that)
Pn Nallini
and Your English teacher (which is Pn Kong again...)

Unofficial Judges:
Other participants (Other unexpected audience may be there too)

The titles for the competition are....
1) My Home, My Glorious Malaysia
2) We can only be proud of our history
3) Teenagers nowadays don't appreciate the significance of independence
4) The Rukun Negara isn't just for show
5) Bangsa Malaysia is a reality
6) Harmonious interaction among races isn't an option, it is a must
7) A diverse Malaysian community is the strength of our country
8) National integration has to start in schools
9) Malaysia is a role model of national integration
10) The young determines the future of our country
--------------------------------------------------------

ALL participants will receive a certificate of participation. As of now, there is only 2 official participants, namely Keith and Nicholas. There should be a prize for the champion, the first and second runner-up... i think.

So, yeah. Other Form 4's who wish to join are encouraged to do so.

Minor Reminders....

So according to Ashwin, the boys will be having PJ tomorrow. For the past 2 weeks, rain had been pouring whenever we were about to have our PJ. Hopefully this time that won't happen.
Oh yeah, this is directed to boys only. For the girls, maybe you can ask Reenisha.

Few things you should bring tomorrow....
1) PJ clothes (Boys, especially)
2) Chemistry PEKA (Latest by today actually)
3) Penilaian 2 exam slip (I know some of you haven't get yet, my bad)
4) School Fees (RM 106.50)
5) Your clothes, bag, brain, and completed homeworks (This is a tough one, eh?)

Since the fasting season is coming soon, I wish all Muslims a HAPPY PUASA TIME. May you fast without lust. XD

And the most important thing.... MID-SEMESTER HOLIDAYS IS COMING SOON!!! WOOHOO!!!
Fun, eh? Not so for some. Moving on... I suggest you complete all your stalled homeworks during the holidays. Procrastinating is fun, but don't always do it. There's a high chance of getting lectures from teachers AND parents if you procrastinate too much. Oh and, don't go to places with many people too often since the H1N1 virus is still floating around. You don't want to be part of the infected too, do you?

So yeah, that should be all.

[POST RESPONSE] To crimsonteddy: Please bear in mind that the audience of this blog are not just members of 4M. Please differentiate between humour and disrespect. And that particular double-handed middle finger image is a no-go. I am against the use of foul words AND/OR offending images in posts. I can tolerate things like that in the cbox but not in posts. Sorry if you find that slightly offending, but there will be more who will get offended if they were to read your latest post. I hope you cooperate. Thank you.

The Tormented Soul of School FEES...

A very short post this is to thou who hath not paid their fees.

~Pay it or it will torment you for the rest of the year, perhaps next year too~
~The fees are only RM106.50~

~WOOOOoooooo~
Be scared, be very scared.

p/s: Lol, I was watching Scary Movie 2 yesterday. So actually there's not much reason behind the dumb "ghost-like" post. It just suddenly came to my mind. XD
